I was a 30-day user of Fen Phen and a member of the class action lawsuit filed against American Home Products (AHP). AHP was also the manufacturer of Tylenol.
Fortunately for me, the weight loss drug resulted in my losing only one pound in a month and I stopped taking it. People who took it for 60 or 90 days have serious health problems including death. I was tested and found to have had no ill effects.
The lawsuit said that AHP had known about the disabling and deadly side effects of their drug from trials in Europe. They knew that the drug would raise $5 billion in revenue. They also knew that the resulting litigation would be $3 billion and they released the drug in the US anyway and made us sign a waiver to try to scale down the lawsuits! Nice company. They remind me of, "This country runs on greed," by Michael Douglas in Wall Street.
More recently I was a Merck Vioxx user and that lawsuit is working its way through the courts with the same allegations of prior knowledge.
Both of these drugs were FDA approved so why should people trust the FDA and the pharmaceutical companies?
My father worked in the Charlestown shipyard and the GE case is in the courts and there are 600,000 total cases.
Anyone else remember the Thalidomide babies?
How about
lead paint?
Let's not forget the Arsenic in all those pressure-treated wheelchair ramps we built.
Here's a study on
Autism,Thermiserol and Mercury.
I posted some of the more interesting findings below and I'm considering making Autism the topic for my next TV3 show. If you would like to submit a story or appear on the show, please submit your info in the Contact Us section of the website.
