My online dating adventure back in 1987 on Boston CitiNet, which was a Bulletin Board Service (BBS) and it was ASCI Text only meaning that no pictures were available. You meet up with someone here and it was the classic blind date. This also happens to be the same year "Blind Date," the movie came out with Bruce Willis and Kim Bassinger! "Don't let her drink," ROFL!

I'll never forget my first online date. She was real nice but she was just getting over pneumonia and looked like she weighed about 87 pounds. Nice. Rule #1 invented - Always get a picture.
|
Then we had the Argus (another BBS) brunch get-together at the Food Court in the new Cambridgeside Galleria Mall in Cambridge, MA. I met a woman who I partied with for a year including trips to Florida, Niagara Falls, Montreal, and Old Orchard Beach, Maine. She is married now but we still communicate and she sends me some of the funniest jokes you can imagine. If you want to get on my joke list, email me in the Contact Us page but a word of caution - some of them are XXX rated!

|
Then I met someone who supplied a picture but when I met her, she was about ten years older.
Rule #2 invented - Always ask for a current picture!
|
Then I met someone who sent a "current," picture but she was at least 100 pounds heavier than in the picture.
Rule #3 - Never believe that the picture is current.

Last month there were five of us guys hanging around on a Saturday night doing our usual pizza party and I posted an ad on Craigs List inviting any women in their 50's to meet us in a public restaurant. The first week none of my friends showed up and two women came late. The next week, three women came as did all my friends. I am currently communicating with one of them.
